Band geometry from position-momentum duality at topological band crossings

چکیده

We show that the position-momentum duality offers a transparent interpretation of band geometry at topological crossings. Under this duality, with Berry connection is dual to free-electron motion under gauge field. This identifies trace quantum metric as energy in momentum space. The crossings defects thus induce quantization metric. For $\mathbb{Z}$ nodal-point and nodal-surface semimetals three dimensions, Landau level occurs owing charges. Meanwhile, two-dimensional (2D) Dirac points exhibit vortices, leading quantized axial rotational energies. Such naturally generalizes three-dimensional (3D) nodal-loop semimetals, where nodal loops host vortex lines. ${\mathbb{Z}}_{2}$ monopoles bring about additional energies, which originate from links Nontrivial generically induces finite spread Wannier functions. While manifest lower bounds charges, logarithmic divergences occur vortices. may be probed experimentally by periodic-drive measurement.

Avoided Band Crossings: Tuning Metal-Insulator Transitions in Chaotic Systems

We show that avoided crossings of energy bands may give rise to a variety of phenomena such as transitions from metal to insulator and vice versa, changes in localization lengths, and changes in the fractal dimension of energy spectra. We explain the occurrence of these phenomena in the kicked Harper model under classically chaotic conditions and predict them to occur in other systems. [S0031-9...

Topological Phases in Narrow-band syst(

I discuss several novel topological phases in correlated electron systems, realized through spin-orbit interactions and lattice effects especially narrow-band systems. The first realizes the fractional quantum Hall effect using geometric frustration and ferromagnetism to obtain a nearly flat band with a large bandgap and non-zero Chern number. This system can support this effect at high tempera...
